Church Women United (CWU)

Church Women United (CWU)

What They Do:

Assist struggling families and individuals living in Napa County by giving them free clothing, shoes, and linens. Clients can use the organization’s Clothing Center every two months and can fill two grocery bags. Anyone can use the Center one time if they are afflicted by an emergency such as a fire, flood, or earthquake.

Clothing donations come from individuals, businesses, and local charitable groups. Most people give to the Center because they don’t want their clothes sold.

Church Women United has been responsible for operating the Clothing Center since 1977. Several of our volunteers have served for more than 20 years and three for 30 years. At this time we are in need of additional volunteers, contact Glenna at 224-5577 if you can give 3 1/2 hours once a week.

“If you are under the age of 30 years and contribute at least $10 to the CWU Clothing Center, you will receive a certificate entitling you to a one-time visit to the Clothing Center to choose one outfit (dress or blouse/shirt and pants).”

Testimonial:

Who are our clients? They include people who are homeless, mentally unstable, low-income workers, students, the elderly, the developmentally disabled, and disaster survivors. They include people emerging from family crisis, those starting their lives, and low-income people preparing for job interviews or court appearances. Confidentiality is promised. We make time to listen.
