Church Women United (CWU)

Church Women United (CWU)

What They Do:

Assist needy persons living in Napa County by giving them free clothing, shoes, and linens. Clients can use the Clothing Center every two months and fill two grocery bags. Anyone can use the Center one time if affected by an emergency such as fire, flood, earthquake.

Clothing donations come from individuals, businesses, and local charitable groups. Most people give to the Center because they don’t want their clothes sold.

Church Women United has been responsible for operating the Clothing Center since 1977. Several of our volunteers have served for more than 20 years and three for 30 years. At this time we are in need of additional volunteers, contact Glenna at 224-5577 if you can give 3 1/2 hours once a week.

“If you are under the age of 30 years and contribute at least $10 to the CWU Clothing Center, you will receive a certificate entitling you to a one-time visit to the Clothing Center to choose one outfit (dress or blouse/shirt and pants).”

Other Ways to Help:

Supporters can donate good, gently used or new clothing for men, women, children, and infants. Also needed are towels, bed linens, blankets and seasonal coats and jackets.

Supporters can give 3 1/2 hours weekly of their time to volunteer at the Clothing Center or be a substitute. The Center is open from 9AM to noon, Monday through Friday.

Business Partners:

Our thanks to Napa Valley Lutheran Church for providing matching funds to CWU through the Give!Guide.

CWU is a wonderful place to find great clothes and linens. I love volunteering here because everybody who works with me and visits here is the best.
