Community Health Initiative (CHI)

What They Do:

Help thousands of Napa children, families, young adults and seniors receive free or low-cost medical care, counseling, dental and vision services. Trained bilingual staff help vulnerable community members enroll in health insurance and navigate complex health plans so they can receive the affordable health care they need.

Since 2005, Napa Community Health Initiative has provided a health safety net for low-income families through insurance enrollment and follow-up. CHI is the trusted “go-to” agency for community members who need medical coverage.

Health insurance is always complex, but especially for people challenged with language issues, immigration concerns and poverty. Bilingual CHI staff members provide one-on-one help with applications and ensure that clients understand how to get needed care. Reaching out through schools and other local agencies, CHI’s services enable children to get well-baby visits, young adults to get coverage and seniors to receive eye exams and dental care.

Other Ways to Help:

  • Distribute bilingual health care guide booklets.
  • Volunteer at our annual fund-raising event.
  • Collect silent auction donations for annual event.
  • Host a “friend-raising” dinner party.
  • Share CHI’s good work through social media.

Business Partners:

Rabobank will match up to $1,000 in donations for CHI made through the Give!Guide.

It was a relief that CHI was able to explain step-by-step what I needed to obtain health insurance because I was so afraid when my daughter had no coverage.
