What They Do:

Empower healthy girls. Combine life-skills curriculum with fun, experiential activities, and running or just moving. Girls are given tools to choose positive talk, healthy foods, movement, satisfied body image, and healthy friendships. 1,000 girls annually are empowered, focusing on low-income households (76%) and diverse ethnicities (71%).

Women leaders volunteer and use nationally-researched curriculum, which includes lessons on visualization, expressing feelings with “I” statements, attitude of gratitude, realizing beauty is inside-out, healthy eating, exercise, and bullying prevention. Small groups of 8-13 year old girls meet twice a week for ten weeks in the spring and fall at 54 school sites.

Girls experience the gift of giving through a community impact project, and the power of achievement by finishing a non-competitive 3.1 miles/5K run.

My daughter isn't very athletic and doesn't want to play any sport but with GOTR she is keeping active and having fun at the same time, besides it gives her the opportunity to make new friends and be a role model to the younger girls. Thanks GOTR for helping my daughter become a better human being.

Business Partners:

Silverado Farming Company has a commitment to nurturing a strong Napa Community and has donated $5,000 in matching funds. Pete Richmond shared “Our hope is that the matching donation will enable more girls, like our vineyard crew daughters, to take advantage of the exceptional GOTR life skill curriculum.”
