What They Do:

Provide a safe, supportive harbor for Napa’s homeless young mothers and children as they rebuild their lives. Established in 1994, Catholic Charities has provided transitional housing and supportive case management at Rainbow House serving 50 families annually. All services are tailored to meet the unique needs of young mothers and their children.

Intensive services include parenting, health, education, employment, and housing assistance. The County’s only shelter serving this population, once graduated from the program, 90% of participants exit into housing, 81% improve parenting, and 70% increase their income. In addition to Rainbow House, Catholic Charities provides immigration assistance and citizenship classes, rural food outreach, benefit enrollment, and additional transitional and supportive housing. Serves over 2,000 Napans annually.

I have referred several students who are young mothers experiencing homelessness and domestic violence to Rainbow House. These young women enter a caring environment where they gain the confidence and skills needed to secure a stable family life, employment and housing.
